MCoC Champion Profiles

**DISCLAIMER** – All of the posts that you see linked to the right were written previous to at least one update to the game. Kabam is terrible about making us aware of even small changes to characters so I’ve made a quick run through them all for fast updates, but there’s still more info to be had and I might have missed something still. So just take what’s there with a grain of salt.

Overview

Over the next few weeks however long it takes, I will be collaborating with my alliances and the community via the MCoC Reddit in order to create a database of Character Information for the entire MCoC community to refer to and learn from. I strive to gather and give out as much information as I possibly can, so I appreciate all the support we can get from you, our readers!

Basic Game Mechanics

  • Light attack (L) – Tap right side of screen
  • Medium attack (M) – Swipe right side of screen
  • Heavy attack (H) – Hold and release right side of screen
  • Block – Hold left side of screen
  • Evade/Dash Back – Swipe backwards
  • L1 – First Special
  • L2 – Second Special
  • L3 – Third Special

Hero Classes and Types

Everyone should be aware of the 6 basic classes in the game: Science, Skill, Mutant, Tech, Cosmic & Mystic. However, for these purposes, I will also classify champs generally according to their size/speed combo (with some examples):

  1. Small – Ex: Spider-Man and his variants
  2. Medium – Ex: Captain America
  3. Large – Ex: Thor, Colossus
  4. XL – Ex: Abomination, Hulkbuster, etc.

Base Stats

**Disclaimer: I’m still deciding how to go about this section. With the 11.0 update, Kabam finally gave base stat information to us. With 12.0 they converted that all to arbitrary flat values coupled with Challenger Rating and the Diminishing Returns system. With 12.1(?) they gave us a button to see how those values translated to percentages. With updates 13.0/14.0, they’ve been greatly increasing the 5* availability, slowly but surely shifting the meta of the game. Until today, the base stats listed have been for 4* because they are more easily available. So basically, Challenger Rating and 5* availability makes me unsure how I want to proceed here. I’ll figure it out, but for now all values listed are INACCURATE**

Well Kabam FINALLY gave in to the community, and made each champions base stats accessible. This will allow us to, as the Champion database grows, compare precisely where some champions are better than others when all else seems identical, and also see how a champion improves at different ranks. We’ll go back and update previous write ups, because any and all information I can provide for you, I will do my best to do so. Bear with me if some of my interpretations of the stats provided aren’t quite correct, I’m learning as much as all of you are. Kindly leave comments if you see something that needs fixing and I’ll verify it and change it.

  1. Armor – Reduces the incoming damage from all attacks by X percentage
  2. Critical Chance – Chance to score a Critical Hit. Critical Hits ignore a portion of your opponents armor and deal damage based on Critical Damage
  3. Critical Damage – Multiply Attack rating by X percentage when scoring a Critical Hit
  4. Block Proficiency – X percentage of incoming damage is received while blocking
  5. Engergy Resistance – Amount of damage reduced by incoming attacks
  6. Physical Resistance – Amount of additional damage reduced from Physical-based attacks

In this section, I will try my hardest to find instances of a 4* at 3/30, 4/40 and 5/50, since most everyone will be able to at least get champions to 3/30, a lot will hit the t4cc wall and get stuck at 4/40, and we’ll all stare longingly at the stats of the 5/50s while those who have them rub it in our faces. If I am missing some info along the way, feel free to send me screen shots to fill in what I couldn’t find it myself!

Kabam Character Profiles

Isn’t all this information already available on the Character Profiles? Well, yes, but often Kabam has a very confusing way of wording things. I hope to make it clear what is meant by their left-to-be-desired descriptions.

Mastery Profiles & Willpower

I will also assume people have a general understanding of masteries, if not, RoninNupe’s Mastery Guide is a fantastic place to start (or, it used to be. Note to self to find a new reference). Freshen up on the abbreviations especially. Masteries will often be referenced (using Parry with Netflix Daredevil) so please take a moment and read up on masteries if needed before reading these posts and asking questions you can answer yourself. Even though willpower has been significantly nerfed, it will still be discussed here, as it can prove to be a major problem in AW in the right situations. With some more time under my belt after the willpower nerf, moving forward, it will only be casually mentioned. Even though wp isn’t op anymore, I will introduce a wp threat level with None (ex. Ms Marvel), Low (ex. YJ – proc only on special), Medium (ex. BP – proc a single instance of wp on basic/specials), High (ex. Fixit – can proc multiple triggers of WP simultaneously via basic/special attacks) as options. This sounds in depth, but will ultimately only be a sentence or two for each champ. Parry and Resonate will not be considered for WP threat level.

When discussing certain champs, you might see a MASTERY ALERT pop up. This will usually only discuss masteries outside of the “standard” set of Parry, Dexterity, Cruelty, Precision, etc. Obviously, crit masteries are important for someone like a duped SW, but I don’t think we need to devote a whole paragraph to that for every single champ we do.

Champion Abilities

Longtime players already know the difference between Signature, Passive, and Special Abilities. But for everyone else, here’s what those are.

Signature Abilities

Signature Abilities (Sigs) are activated when you duplicate (dupe) or awaken your Champion using a gem/as basic from arena. Common Sigs most people have probably seen are Spider-Man’s Evasion, Juggernaut’s Unstoppable and others, but we’ll get to those later!

Passive Abilities

Passive Abilities (PA) are ALWAYS active and have a chance to impact at fight at any time. Common PAs include Electro’s Static Shock and Venom’s Random Stacking Buff.

Special Abilities

Special Abilities (SA) are activated when you use a given Special Attack. These often include placing debuffs on your opponent, such as Hulkbuster’s Armor Break and Yellow Jacket’s Poison Sting.

Many of these abilities will be denoted by a X%. This symbol means that the number it would represent changes with tier, rank and level, even though I personally think it makes things a bit more confusing than pure numbers would. I wish I could be more specific, as it would be more helpful, but I also want this project to be applicable to ALL players and champions. It also helps avoid the “Well my champion is showing Y%. What gives?” questions. I’ll be thinking about if there’s any way to improve on this system as we go along.

Champion Uses

Champion Analysis will include preferred uses from the community of each particular Champion, broken down as follows:

  1. Story/Event Quests (SEQ)
  2. Alliance Quests (AQ)
  3. Alliance War (AWO/AWD)
  4. Arena
  5. Realm of Legends (RoL)
  6. Challenge Quests (such as Chloe’s/Ming-Na’s challenges)
  7. Road to Labyrinth/Labyrinth of Legends (LoL)

When it comes to AWD, I will be asking your input on your favorite nodes to place these champions on. I will personally hunt down anyone who says unblockable L1 for Spider-Gwen, I want these to be legitimate thoughtful answers. Some nodes may have multiple effects, but I will likely present these individually as separate preferred options unless there is clearly a very specific node that is best. Signature abilities may affect node preferences, so keep that in mind as you read through this. I will try to address as much as possible to cover all options.

For arena, I will try and capture as much historical data we can from past arenas (Veteran bracket only). As always, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, as cutoffs seem to vary with weekend/weekday arena, if t4b arena is running, whether Saturn is in alignment with Jupiter, and whether the Kabam powers-that-be have had their morning coffee yet. In other words, arena cutoffs are random. Lately it seems that Basic scores have been on a general rise, perhaps due to the influx of players to the Veteran bracket since no one ever leaves and new people continuously come in.

The 13.0 update brought an arena system change, and cutoffs will reflect this.

Synergies

I will be making note of as many synergies as we can for each individual champion. This includes the 4 (or more) synergies found on their info page, as well as external synergies. External Synergies are synergies that another champion has towards the one we’re profiling. For example, on the Wolverine profile, Spider-Man will be listed as an external synergy, since the synergy is listed on Spider-Man’s info page. I can not guarantee I will list all of the external synergies on a new page. For example, if we didn’t add Spider-Man to Wolverine’s page at first, I will go back and update Wolverine’s synergies as we’re creating Spider-Man’s page. This saves us from looking at every champion anytime we are creating a page, but does mean some pages could be incomplete from time to time.

**Many synergies are now presented in flat values (yay update 12.0). What this means for you exactly, I can’t say, but I’ll present the data as it is regardless.

Champion Tags

This feature categorizes champions according to different attributes they have. I think it’s ultimately supposed to allow you to sort and search in-game based on these, but I haven’t seen any implementation of this. However, whether it’s a useless feature in game or not, you can search for champions by tag on this site!

For what it’s worth, the tags don’t so much reveal any new information, as much as they just put a name to the information (see Gamora’s profile – the first with this new section). Regardless, I think it is helpful information to include.

And finally, some disclaimers. I am human. I have a life outside the game, let alone outside compiling information about the game. This endeavor is done out of no benefit to myself, other than helping you. I may miss a week, or may end up disappearing for a few months (oops), but I hope to be regular enough to be your first choice to find information. And while I’m certainly not the final authority on this stuff, I will do my best to be as informative as possible.

Disclaimer 2 –  I will do our best to be unbiased about each champion and get people thinking about the potential each Champion has to be great. But the truth is, some champions just have more specific uses (think duped 5* SL in LoL) that make them seem more valuable than others, but I’ll try to at least let you know in advance if we’re going to be biased towards a champ or not 🙂

Disclaimer 3 – Most of our analysis will be geared towards the 4* variants, as they are the most widely used, however as previously stated the game meta is changing towards 5*. If there’s an important distinction between a 3 and a 4, or even a 5, I will try and make note of it. 2*s will not be considered unless mentioned in reference to a fun fact (i.e. Quake given as a free 2*). Percentages shown will be for 4* Champions, when we can get those specifics, but again, the current values displayed are incorrect.

Lastly, this collection of documents will be a living entity. We will be constantly updating the content as Kabam nerfs updates champions and introduce new ones and get more and more community feedback, and also making the presentation more dynamic with photos, gifs, etc. Please be patient with us as I get this started and hopefully I’ll hit a stride soon! And of course, if at any time you think of something I’m missing, kindly let me know via my contact page here or Reddit and I’ll look into it and add it if it can be of benefit to the whole community 🙂

See the sidebar for menus navigation (always a work in progress!)

Thanks everyone!
